The share of unprofitable small-capitalization companies in the US rose to 43%, the most since 2020
43% of the Russell 2000 companies are now unprofitable, the most since the COVID CRISIS.
Since the 2008 Financial crisis, this share has more than doubled. To put this differently, the number of zombie companies continue to grow.
At the same time, interest expense as a % of the total debt of these firms hit 7.1%, the highest since 2003.
