CHART OF THE WEEK: US household asset allocation to stocks hit 57%, near the highest on record
Americans are the most optimistic about stocks in over 2 decades
US household allocation to stocks as a % of total recently reached 57%, near the highest level ever recorded.
The percentage has more than doubled in ~15 years and is now in line with the 2000 Dot-Com Bubble peak.
In other words, US households' allocation to equities is the largest among all financial assets including bonds, commodities, precious metals, and cash (excl. real estate).
At the same time, 47% of Americans expect stock prices to increase in the next 12 months, according recent consumer confidence survey.
This is almost the highest share in ~35 years.
In summary, risk appetite for stocks among Americans has rarely been greater.
